Cardiac Rehabilitation

Where you can get back to being you again

The Buckinghamshire NHS Trust Cardiac Rehabilitation service accepts referrals for rehabilitation of patients following NHS or private angioplasty procedures. Dr Ramrakha recommends this course to all his patients in the Buckinghamshire area after their procedure.

Many studies have shown that by attending a program of cardiac prevention and rehabilitation, you can enhance your recovery, reduce the risks of further problems, and return to normal life more quickly. Each week, you will be guided through individualised, structured, exercise sessions aimed at improving the functioning of your heart. This is coupled with a series of talks that address the risk factors for heart disease which may have contributed to the narrowing in your arteries.

The rehabilitation team run the programs at Aylesbury, Amersham and Wycombe hospitals and the choice of venue is entirely yours.

The number of sessions you attend is negotiable depending on your progress, but all are supervised by their friendly team of senior physiotherapists and a cardiac specialist nurse who are on hand to answer any queries. They will help you to set individual goals, making your experience with them more personal.

Dr Ramrakha will automatically refer you when your procedure is complete. You will be contacted by the rehabilitation team by letter to arrange a start date. In the meantime if you have any questions you can call Rob Harteveldt – Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Specialist Nurse on (01296) 315179 who looks forward to helping you become you again.
